Activision is Planning a Call of Duty Movie !

A Call of Duty movie ? don’t we have enough war movies already ?! According to The Hollwood Reporter, it seems that Activision have set up deals for “Call of Duty: The Movie”, the movie for the very popular video game.
“[The Call of Duty movie is] being talked about for the big screen,” said one person with knowledge of the deal.
However, in an interview prior to Thursday’s quarterly earnings conference call, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick wouldn’t comment on the status of Call of Duty becoming a film. But only commented on that by saying, “We have growth and we’re making money. That’s better than others can say.” He is obviously referring to Electronic Arts, which posted a 1.08 billion dollar loss for the previous fiscal year.
Kotick added that video games, especially family-friendly titles - like Guitar Hero, which will be getting its own show - are “capturing leisure time away from TV and film.”
Another Activision Blizzard property set to become a movie is World of Warcraft. Apparently, the project is on hold and there is no known estimated date for a release. Such plans might seem like easy money to Activision Blizzard but the company should be careful about taking some of the luster of the image of franchises like Call of Duty, Modern Warfare or Guitar Hero. Gamers might be less interested in them if they go too mainstream.

call of duty movie in essence would just be another war movie. not only that but there is a small chance that this will have the quality of other war movies such as:
Saving private ryan
Behind Enemy Lines
Pearl Harbour
Platoon
… .

Well if it’s based on Modern Warfare then it sounds like a pretty good idea i guess..

They don’t need a call of duty movie especially since COD is based on either real events or real situations. Making the games longer and more better is the only thing I could hope for and the cinematics in the game need to exceed MGS4 quality.
