After Modern Warfare 2 has been announced months ago, and Call of Duty 5 : World at War released while ago , seems no one has forgotten the phenomenal CoD 4 : Modern Warefare at all, the game has won three awards at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Game Awards March 2009, which were presented in London. The game was released in November 2007 and some people might wonder why the title was even considered for awards aimed at 2008 games !
It seems that because of the release schedule for the game and the way the British Academy for Film and Television Arts calculates the period for games to be taken into consideration, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has managed to show that it is better than most of the titles released in 2008. This gives strength to the opinion of some analysts that 2008 was not a great year for the videogaming industry.
The game picked up the Gameplay award, the Story and Character award and also won the GAME Award, which is voted upon by the public.
And it’s not done yet, UK Radio 1 listener’s voted over a four day period From Friday 22nd May to Monday 25th May 2009 for the greatest game of all time. COD4 picked up the top prize and Football Manager 2009 took silver and then Final Fantasy VII . The full list is available here.
