Activision and Treyarch confirmed a Call of Duty World at War Map Pack 2 to be released sometime in June on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Map Pack 1 was the first set of downloadable maps, and many agreed that it was just ok.

Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 delivers three new multiplayer maps and one new zombie map to Treyarch’s World War II shooter. Fight for control of a river bridge in Banzai; battle across a run-down Russian train yard in Corrosion; or fight claustrophobia as well as the enemy in the close-quarters map, Sub Pens.

That’s nice, but what about the zombies? Shi No Numa (Zombie Swamp) is a brand-new co-op experience, with fallen Japanese troops rising to attack players in a misty swamp environment. The level features traps, flaming Hell Hounds, perk machines, and the new Wunderwaffe DG-2.

All of this, plus 10 more achievements and trophies for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 respectively. check out more details, video, and screenshots after the break ..

Banzai

Deep in the jungles of Japanese controlled territory, battle to control the tall river bridge in “Banzai” a bright, medium sized jungle map featuring a waterfall, villages and hidden caves well suited for deadly snipers, surprise attacks and all out gun battles.

Corrosion

In “Corrosion” face down your enemy in a deteriorated Russian train yard. Sprint under, over and through the shattered pipelines and war-torn train cars in this mid sized map great for full out team combat. Keep your head on a swivel as your enemy could be above or below you!

Sub Pens

“Sub Pens” offers a close-quarter bombed-out Japanese submarine base littered with live ammunition, breached subs and idle fighter planes. Wipe the monsoon rains from your eyes and struggle to control key choke points in this tight map designed for exciting and deadly battles.

Shi No Numa (Zombie Swamp)

Keep moving to survive the unending Zombie horde in “Shi No Numa”, the all new addition to the four player co-op fan favorite. Imperial Zombies rise from the misty swamps and flaming Hell Hounds blaze through the jungle as players struggle to find Perk machines and the deadly new Wunderwaffe DG-2 to stay alive. This new map includes 10 new Achievements/Trophies.

Gameplay Banzi & SubPen:

Call of Duty 5 is in works and should be released later this year. As informed the Treyarch will be going back to World War II instead of staying put in the Modern Warfare setting Infinity Ward created for the fourth game in the series. At the time of that revelation many were upset, seeing it as a step back from the great reaction COD4 got from critics and gamers alike. Who would want to play a game based on WWII? What’s a war game without AC-130 gunships and guided anti-tank missiles? Some will find it’s boring and prefer to take futuristic weaponry over rich cultural heritage any day of the week. And others will like it, as COD2 hardcore match was the best you could get.

However, recent info suggests that Treyarch will not be stepping straight back into familiar territory with their upcoming game, and will not be yet again placing the player in a European or American setting. They will instead be taking the battle over to Japan, and will likely put players in the shoes of soldiers who took part in the Pacific Campaign of World War II. No thing announced right now of where the battles will take place, but the focus of the CoD5 story will be on their side of the world rather than in Western Europe this time round.

Anyway, Treyarch needs to make change in setting to get fans more likely interested in their new vision of CoD instead of having to continually listen to people complaining IW are not involved.
